The U.P. Sigma Beta Sorority set a bold vision in motion during its Strategic Planning session in Makati in July 2025. It was during this session that the initiative to provide monthly stipends to resident sisters was thoughtfully proposed by Sis Tess Payongayong Σβ ’90-I and Sis Weng Adriano Σβ ’89. In line with the Sorority’s enduring commitment to academic support and sisterhood, the undertaking gained its fitting identity when Sis Nitz Arias Σβ ’90-M coined the term SISkolar—a name that embodies both scholarship and the spirit of Sigma Beta.
The program officially launched in the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, providing monthly stipends to seven resident sisters. Building on the momentum of these early efforts, the Sorority remains hopeful and firmly committed to sustaining the initiative in the years to come. The progress achieved throughout the academic year has strengthened our resolve, and we look forward to expanding the program’s mission and impact well into the future.
