The U.P. Sigma Beta Sorority set a bold vision in motion during its Strategic Planning session in Makati in July 2025. It was during this session that the initiative to provide monthly stipends to resident sisters was thoughtfully proposed by Sis Tess Payongayong Σβ ’90-I and Sis Weng Adriano Σβ ’89. In line with the Sorority’s enduring commitment to academic support and sisterhood, the undertaking gained its fitting identity when Sis Nitz Arias Σβ ’90-M coined the term SISkolar—a name that embodies both scholarship and the spirit of Sigma Beta.
The program officially launched in the First Semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, granting monthly stipends to seven resident sisters. As the Second Semester begins in January 2026, the Sorority remains hopeful and committed to sustaining the initiative in the years to come.
